The Benefits of PiLam
Being PiLam does not mean that you are expected to surrender any of your legal or social rights, personal ties, or moral beliefs. Your status as an individual changes only in that you have accepted a new responsibilty.
Once a brother you have the opportunity to accept and discharge responsibitites ; to share with and learn from those around you ; and to heighten your self-confidence by exercising these opportunities.
Much to Gain
Active brothers gain invaluable social experience. Just to mention a small part : learning how to get along with people, self adjustment to chapter life, the importance of group welfare, practical leadership and management experience, and personal character development.
The Spirit of Brotherhood
The purpose of PiLam is to promote the elements of brotherhood in an environ- ment free of discrimination. The true spirit of brotherhood exists in very few places in today's troubled world. We firmly believed that a PiLam chapter can, and in the vast majority of cases, does offer as fine an example of brotherly spirit, cooperation, and devotion as can be found anywhere.
